At Yew Tree Dental Practice we have have a great deal of experience in the treatment of dental implants. Dental implants can be used to support a false tooth, or support a denture or bridge. Getting dental implants can be a practical way to replace any missing teeth. They are a healthy and safe way to bring back confidence in your smile. Of course, this is dependent on the current condition of the jawbone, which one of our qualified and experienced Yew Tree dentists will examine and carry out a number of special tests in order to identify whether or not this treatment can work for you.
How do Dental Implants work?
A titanium metal rod is placed into the jawbone, which is used to support the false teeth/tooth.
Do Dental Implants hurt?
In practice, it is actually easier to take a tooth out and we can perform the surgery under a simple local anesthetic. Dental implants are not painful at the time, but after (quite similar to when a tooth is extracted) it can be uncomfortable throughout the week following the surgery.
Aftercare for my Dental Implants
The team will inform you on how to look after your new implant. If necessary, we may offer you some painkillers after the surgery to take afterwards.
You clean your implant as you would your normal teeth. Aftercare is important for maintaining your implants. We will demonstrate how to clean the difficult to reach spots if needed. In order to maintain a healthy implant it is sometimes a good idea to visit your hygienist more often – which will all be explained to you at your consultation.
